Diabetes - How to Deal With It?
The condition in which an individual's blood is found to contain a high sugar/glucose level than the normally specified limit is known as diabetes mellitus. It is often referred to as diabetes and is even known as "sugar". The condition might be due to the following reasons, where in if insulin secretion is not happening in an individual's body or the secreted insulin is not doing its job.
The pancreas secretes the hormone called insulin, which effectively absorbs all the glucose that is available in the blood and convert it into energy. Many health complications can arise if the proper functioning of the above said process gets hindered; usually the excess glucose that is not absorbed gets accumulated in the blood and increases the blood sugar level.
Diabetes is of many types but the most common among them are gestational diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is as the result of our body failing to control the level of glucose in our blood stream due to lack of the hormone insulin. Type 2 diabetes is where the hormone insulin that is secreted normally, but the individual's body cannot use the same to absorb glucose.
There are instances wherein Type 2 can result in a total deficiency and absolute depletion of insulin in an individual's body. Gestational diabetes is a condition that is usually developed by pregnant women, who never before had this condition called diabetes, but get a high blood glucose level during pregnancy. This type of diabetes can later transform into Type 2.
Since 1921, the time when insulin became available, treating if diabetes has become possible and it is no more considered as a threat. Type 2 diabetes cannot be cured, but can be kept within control with the help of tablet based medication. The treatment for the different types of diabetes depends on the individual's body type. A doctor can guide an individual on how to deal with their type of diabetes and also can suggest a treatment based on their body type.
Types 1 and 2 are harder to find a permanent solution, but injecting insulin directly into the blood stream can control the level of excess glucose. Gastric bypass surgery has been a proven treatment for those individuals suffering from Type 2 diabetes. Gestational diabetes usually gets resolved by itself after the delivery of the baby and if not can be brought under control through the various medications that are available.
The key to overcome any disease is to have hope and a positive attitude to accept things and move on, after all it is your life and nobody else can live it better than you can do. The various treatments that are available will make sure an individual is helped to regain his full confidence and can lead a life that is as normal as it was before. One has to be positive and look forward to achieve something to make their life more interesting. One's health directly depends on his/her mental state.
